
Jhom Chua-so
Bio
Ms. Jho-merita Chua-so or Jhom is an accomplished music professional, with extensive experience in performing arts and teaching.
Teacher Jhom has double bachelor degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Conservatory of Music. She was a former member of UST Coro Tomasino, and was a Klassikal Music Foundation (KMF) scholar of Mr. George T. Yang, founder of McDonalds Philippines. She was one of the finalists in the Senior Voice Category of the National Competition for the Young Artists (NAMCYA) in 2014.
Jhom is versatile and all-out in her performances for theater, opera and choir. Some of her notable performances here and abroad include: Bukas may Liwanag (UST), Eugene Onegin (CCP), La Boheme (CCP), Die Fledermaus (CCP), Le Nozze di Figaro (Philamlife Auditorium), Cavalleria Rusticana (UST), Fidelio (Singapore), La Traviata (Singapore), Rusalka (UP), L’elisir d’amore (China), La Traviata with Ballet Manila Philippines, and TERTULIA stage plays (a Filipino adaptation to a social gathering with literary or artistic overtones) with Vibal Publishing House production.
Her more recent productions include Paniking Naghihiganti (Die Fledermaus), Casa Gaga (Moulin Rouge), Vakladdin (Aladdin), Ang Misteryosang Madam V (Madame V), Ang Nawawalang Bituin, Ang Hitana (Carmen), Don Pasquale, and Suor Angelica. She is a member of Pasipo and the Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) Opera Chorus.
Teacher Jhom remains passionate about music, which she always aims to impart to her students - sharing her belief that music is an integral part of life, a source of inspiration and happiness.
